PORT CLINTON, Ohio, July 12, 2022 — African Safari Wildlife Park has scheduled an inaugural “Enrichment Day” event for Monday, July 18 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendees will work alongside keepers to build enrichment items, then watch the Park’s animals interact with their creations.
“Enrichment is any kind of external stimulus—like a novel food item, toy or training session—that encourages an animal to express natural behavior,” said Kelsey Keller, the Park’s director. “It’s a critically important aspect of modern animal care, and it’s a lot of fun to watch!”
The event coincides with National Zookeeper Week, which runs from Sunday, July 17 to Saturday, July 23.
All Enrichment Day activities are included with general Park admission. Guests are encouraged to bring paper-based items like cardboard, paper towel rolls or newspaper to use for their enrichment. |
